The Physics of Heaven (Davis, 2012)

In 2012, Judy Franklin and Ellyn Davis published a book titled “The Physics of Heaven.” Judy Franklin is the administrative assistant of Bill Johnson (senior pastor at Bethel Church). The preface was written by Kris Vallotton, senior associate leader at Bethel (Bill Johnson’s right-hand man). The book begins with praises written by Banning Liebscher (director of Jesus Culture at Bethel) and Steve Witt (senior leader of Bethel Church Cleveland), among others.

Bill Johnson wrote two chapters, and Beni Johnson, his wife, one. Other chapters were directly contributed by people who have ties with Bethel or were summaries of interviews of them.

This book thus clearly matches Bethel Church’s doctrine.

Excerpts of the authors’ introductions:

Ellyn has had a desire to bridge the gap between Christianity and the discoveries of quantum physics as well as discover God truths hidden in quantum mysticism and the New Age.

Here are a few passages:

  • “Because I believe what the Lord has been showing both of us (authors)  is the absolute truth that will help us bring God’s kingdom to this earth. The Lord is ready to use sound, light, and energy in ways we never dreamed.”

  • “Bringing heaven to earth is our mandate”

  • “Jesus calmed storms. We should be able to do that too. Jesus healed the sick, cast out demons, raised the dead. We have that same power within us.”

  • “It wasn’t that I wanted to become a New Ager, I just wanted to find out if maybe they had uncovered some truths the church hadn’t.” (Ellyn Davis)

  • “I have found throughout Scripture at least 75 examples of things that the New Age has counterfeited, such as having a spirit guide, trances, meditation, auras, power objects, clairvoyance, clairaudience, and more. These actually belong to the church, but they have been stolen and cleverly repackaged.”

  • “Now we are beginning to hear more and more revelation that is in line with what New Agers have been saying all along and we are hearing more and more teaching about Christians “taking back truths” from the New Age that really belong to citizens of the Kingdom of God.”

  • “They all agree that the next move of God will cause a shift at the deepest level of who we are—perhaps at the very “vibrational level” that the New Age movement has been exploring.”

  • “This coming new sound isn’t just something that you pick up with your ears, but it’s greater than anything you can understand. It can change DNA so we are genetically growing up. Your genetics are the same as His was. Our genetics come out of the Father in our spirit. We are becoming like an instrument being tuned, where our genetics are getting aligned with the Father’s genetics, in harmony with Him.”

  • “Your genetics are the same as His was.”

  • “We’re going to take authority over everything down here back and literally give it back to the Father.”

Going along those lines, this article talks about Kris Vallotton’s releasing a purple bubble that creates all kinds of protections.

Use of tuning forks

Beni Johnson wrote on her blog:

“I was talking with Ray Hughes the other day and was tellling him about using a 528 Hz tuning fork as a prophetic act. Someone told me that this tunning fork is called the tuning fork of LOVE. Google it. Ray told me that science has said that this fork is the sound that holds earth. That blew me away !!”

Further down that post, she writes:

“One thing about this 528 Hz tuning fork is that science tells us that the sound of this fork brings healing.”

She is probably referring to this kind of thing:

She also encourages the practice of Holy Yoga [2].

Here is an example of a seminar hosted at Bethel Church ($149, not exactly cheap)

“Grounding”

Beni Johnson recommends walking barefoot for at least a half hour a day in order to connect our bodies with the energies of the earth[3]. This is to recharge our bodies and recalibrate our cells and hormones. She also mentions anti-inflammatory benefits.

Transcendental Meditation

Bethel encourages the practice of soaking or contemplative prayer, which is nothing other than transcendental meditation (TM) with a new name. Soaking is practiced by making oneself comfortable, playing fitting music, and emptying oneself by saying a word over and over (mantra). The simple fact of choosing a “sacred” word to repeat supposedly shows the individual’s desire to connect with God. There is thus no difference between transcendental meditation and “soaking.”

Beni Johnson indicates that this practice is required of all third-year students. [4]

She describes soaking as “not asking anything from God. Everything happens between His Spirit and your spirit communicating to one another.”

This practice is not found in the Bible; rather, the Bible requires of us to pray with our spirits and also with our minds. (1 Corinthians 14:15)

Here is an example of what might happen during a soaking session, in the presence of Beni Johnson: a young man communicated with his deceased sister and another dead girl.

Should you be interested in the practice, you can buy a “soaking kit” sold by John and Carol Arnott (Toronto).

For $50, you get a CD, a DVD with teachings by the Arnotts, a booklet that explains how to create a soaking center, and much more!

And more practices…

Beni Johnson also recommends acupressure and “Christian yoga,” which are once again Eastern practices influenced by Hinduism.

The word yoga means “union.” It is the union of the individual with Brahman, the hindu equivalent of God.

Beni Johnson takes her clues from Brooke Boon[6]. While Brooke Boon’s message is marked with Christian concepts, she co-wrote a book titled Hatha Yoga Illustrated [7] that has nothing to do with Christianity.
